Frequently Asked Questions

How can we help you?

FAQs

How long have you been in business?

Emily Bailey Bolen opened Bailey’s Buds ‘n Blooms, the newest branch of the Bailey’s family of businesses, in 2014 when she graduated from The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute. You can see lots of Emily’s portfolio of wedding florals on this website.

Can you work within an budget?

For any occasion—weddings, special events, parties and more—we can work with any budget. Flowers are priced by the stem and arrangements are figured out based upon the flower stem costs, material costs and labor and design to create the arrangements. If you let us know your budget when planning your florals, we can give you options and choices that fit within your cost parameters. In the U.S., flowers average about 10-15% of the wedding budget. Please come prepared to your wedding consultation or when you contact us and we will be able to recommend the best options and choices within your budget.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment details will be discussed and arranged at your bridal consultation. We prefer to have a check or cash for wedding payments and deposits. In the event that a check is returned, a $40 returned check fee will be assessed to the bride.

Do you require a retainer fee/deposit?

At Bailey’s Buds ‘n Blooms, we always want to give every bride, every wedding and every event our top priority and attention. We will never book more events or work than we can handle in a given weekend or day. To give each event ultimate attention, we can only design, create and build florals and arrangements for a certain number of weddings per weekend/day. To ensure that your date is secured for your flowers, rentals and accessories, a non-refundable retainer fee of $150 is required. That retainer fee/deposit is then applied to your total billable amount. Your date will be available to any other bride until we receive your deposit.

How far do you deliver wedding flowers?

Our general service area for floral deliveries is most of Erie, Huron, Sandusky and Ottawa Counties in Ohio. This includes: Sandusky, Huron, Vermilion, Port Clinton, Oak Harbor, Bellevue, Norwalk, Monroeville, Fremont, Kelleys Island, Put-in-Bay, Johnson’s Island, Berlin Heights and Milan. If you don’t see a location listed here and you would like to inquire about flower delivery, please contact us.

When are final changes and the balance of my total cost due?

All changes must be finalized and full payment made by three weeks prior to the wedding/event date. I will only accept changes to the order when they come from the bride (or person listed on the contract), unless previous arrangements have been made for a different person to be the point of contact and decision maker for the event.

How many weddings do you do in one day?

In order to provide excellent work and service, Bailey’s Buds ‘n Blooms will only take on what we can handle and maintain excellence. It completely depends upon the size of the wedding, types of flowers, design time, travel time and all the details involved. We promise each bride the same great service and finished product, no matter the size of the wedding. Delivery is also limited for wedding florals; however, wedding pick-ups are always an option at our Garden & Gift Shoppe.

Do you have set packages or prices for wedding florals?

No. We do not have set packages or prices for wedding or event flowers and services. All prices are custom set to what you’re looking for, what your budget will be and the types of products available at that time.

Do I need to make an appointment for a wedding consultation?

Consultations are the best way for us to gather all the details for your perfect day, so we can create the best customized plan just for you. The consultation will usually take about one hour and we highly recommend making an appointment, as we are often in and out throughout the day delivering flowers and working outside the office. If you’re from outside the area, it’s not a problem, we can schedule a phone or videochat consultation at your convenience. Please contact us with your name and event details to schedule an appointment with her soon!

What does "service charge" mean?

When you see the words “service charge” it means we are fully servicing your wedding—going above and beyond just the flowers. We understand how busy your wedding day is and know you have more important things to do than wait around on your florist. Our full service includes making sure a Bailey’s team member is at your ceremony to set up arrangements, find the groomsmen and fathers and pin on the boutonnieres, pin on corsages, find the flower girl and deliver the petals and anything else floral or design related. The service charge also covers setting up of centerpieces and reception flowers. We may be able to, for an additional charge, pick up rental items from the reception and/or ceremony locations; otherwise, you can return all rentals to the Bailey’s Garden & Gift Shoppe during business hours by the Wednesday following your wedding for no extra charge.
